The Fab School will reward series' Crew Chief of the Year in 2017

Corona, California (April 27, 2017) – The Fab School, a nationally-renowned automotive training school, has joined the elite group of Lucas Oil Products partners and taken a multi-level sponsorship interest in this year's Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

The Fab School is supporting the national series by sponsoring the Crew Chief of the Year Award and the Mod Kart Fast Lap of the Race Award, both of which will be presented at the series annual end-of-season awards banquet, and will be the "Tech Tip" sponsors for 16 shows on the CBS Sports Network and 16 on MAVTV the Motorsports Network.

Both the Crew Chief of the Year and the Mod Kart Fast Lap Award winner will receive custom-made trophies and $1,000 cash from The Fab School.

The Fab School also is the Official Metal Fabrication and Welding School for the Southern California Regional Series. "We're excited to have such a super-cool school to promote during our Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series events," series director Ritchie Lewis said. "We know our crew chiefs are going to enjoy having this award to recognize all their hard work during the season.

"The Mod Kart Fast Lap Award will give every team an opportunity to leave the race track after a long, hot day with bragging rights in that ultra-competitive class."

The Fab School has been involved with the Lucas Oil short-course series and its predecessor Championship Off-Road Racing since the school was founded by veteran off-road racer and car builder Troy Johnson 12 years ago.

This will be the first time the school has been this involved in sponsorship but Brittany Westhoff, the director of social media and marketing, called it a natural progression for the school that two years ago moved from its outdated, crowded Riverside, California, birthplace into a state-of-the-art 30,000-square-foot facility in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

The school is accredited by the national Commission of the Council on Occupational Education and the California Bureau for Private Post-secondary Education and can offer federal financial aid to its students. Westhoff said the 600-hour Fundamentals of Fabrication program provides instruction on chassis design, suspension, steering theory and much more to prepare the school's graduates for careers in the automotive field. It's no surprise that many of those graduates go into off-road racing, though.

"Troy's been involved in it for over 25 years," Westhoff said. "Our passion is off-road and a lot of our graduates do wind up on Lucas Oil teams because the teams know they're the best fabricators."
