CORONA, CA - A significant rules change is coming to the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series in 2019, aimed at benefitting Pro 2 competitors in multiple ways.
LOORRS is going to a new tire rule, mandating that all Pro 2 competitors will run a DOT tire in all its events.
Series Director Bill Smith said the move to DOT tires will help unify the rules package for the Pro 2s in both the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and the Lucas Oil Midwest Short Course League. This will also pave the way for tire companies to get involved in LOORRS and help support more teams in the Pro 2 class.
"The LOMSCL has used the DOT tire in the Pro 2 class the last two years, and the reviews have been positive," Smith said. "We believe it will be beneficial to have a similar rule package for both the LOORRS and the LOMSCL as more competitors are expressing their interest in competing within both series starting in 2019."
Pro 2 trucks are two-wheel drive, full-sized race trucks with more than 700 horsepower and a 117-inch maximum wheelbase. Minimum weight is 4,000 pounds, including driver. Rob MacCachren captured the 2018 championship by just 14 points over R.J. Anderson.
