CORONA, Calif. (February 21, 2020) – The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series has announced that after a long and decorated career in the sport of short course off road, Series Director Bill Smith will step away from his role prior to the start of the 2020 racing season. Smith will move on from the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series to focus on spending more time with his family. In Smith’s absence, a team of experienced and talented individuals within the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series will come together to oversee the continued preparations for the season opening OPTIMA Batteries SoCal Shootout Presented by K&N Filters from Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California, on March 14-15.
“Given his experience in the sport of short course off road, Bill Smith brought first hand knowledge to the inner workings of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series,” said Tom Fredrickson, COO of Lucas Oil Products, Inc. “His contributions to the series were significant, and it helped Lucas Oil Off Road become the world’s premier short course off road racing series. We wish him nothing but the best as he transitions into spending more time with his loved ones. Bill’s replacement is being sought at this time, and we will draw upon our breadth of resources to manage the series until a replacement is selected.”
